Abstract

Amino resin binders, urea-formaldehyde resins, used for sizing wood elements such as particles, fibres, chips and sheets, are modified with 0.5-7 wt.% of a polymethylene diamine (esp. hexamethylenediamine) before or during application to the wood, to allow more complete drying of the sized elements before the curing process. The modified binders can be used in the prodn. of fibreboards, chipboard plywood etc. The extra drying possible allows prodn. of cured sheets with improved props. without formation of vapour bubbles etc.
