Abstract

Mixt. of particles of NaCN and ZnO is added to a soln. contg. NaOH and Na2Zn(CN)4, (formed by reacting NaCN and Zn(CN)2), in a ratio NaCN:ZnO s=0.5 as it becomes exhausted from time to time whereby when the molar ratio is 0.5-3 NaOH particles are added to the mixt. of particles in a ratio given by:moles NaOH/moles (NaCN + ZnO) = 5.5 exp (-1217R-0.0197R4) (where R = moles NaCN/moles ZnO. Process avoids the necessity to prepare Zn(CN)2 at the start or prior to making up the soln.
