Abstract

Benzo-1, 4-diazepin-2-ones of formula (I) (where R is H, Br, Cl; R' is H, alkyl; R2 is pyridyl substd. by Me, Cl), have sedative, neurodepressant and anticonvulsant activity, with less marked side-effects such as lsleepiness, ataxia and visual disorders than with known analogues. (I) are prepd. by reacting (II) (X is halogen) with hexamine which may be formed in situ by reaction of NH3 and formaldehyde.
