Abstract

The one-component system consists of a tubular jacket of >=1 unvulcanised or unhardened polymer layer, and a core contg. vulcanising agent or hardener for the polymer. Pref. an inner layer is present between outer jacket and core, and the outer jacket consists of a polysulphide polymer of mol. wt. 1000-10000 alpha a polybutadiene of mol. wt. 2000. The hardener is pref. dispersed in a liquid carrier to form a paste. The jacket is formed by extrusion and pref. filled simultaneously with hardener injected through the centre. The components are mixed together immediately before use, to form a putty-like mass which hardens on standing, suitable for sealing and adhesive purposes e.g. around windscreens in vehicles, glass panes in building, etc. Storage life before mixing is almost unlimited and mixing requires only simple and cheap equipment, without weighing of separate components.
