The beta-aminosilanes have the formula (I) Z1Z2N-CH2-CHR' a-Si-(OR)4-a (I) (where R is lower alkyl, opt. alkoxylated; R' is opt. branched alkyl; Z1 and Z2 are the same or different and are H, alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl or phenyl, opt. aminated; a is 1, 2 or 3). They are used as solns. in water, in which they are partially sol., or mixtures of water with the usual org. solvents, e.g. 2-4C alcohols contg. =3.5% of (I).
