Abstract
The addn is a mineral contg F and B cpds and reduces the viscosity of the slag preventing formation of bubbles. CaO addition may also be made simultaneously or subsequently to improve the lime/silica ratio and hence the amt of Ca-silicates present, after clinkering. Additions are pref. made at the time of casting the slag from the blast furnace.
