Abstract

A synthetic resin concrete composition comprises an aggregate and sufficient thermosetting polyester resin mixt. to saturate the voids in the aggregate, the resin mixt. having an intial viscosity is not >6 poise, when set, a heat distortion temp. (ASTM D 648-45T) of from 25 degrees-45 degrees C, a tensile strength >2000 lbs/in2, a tensile elastic moduls 0.15 xu06 lb/in2 (at a strain rate of 1%/min.), after aging for 14 days at room temp. The resin concrete can be used for surfacing concrete floors, bridge, decks, spillways, etc. Pref. a layer of resin is laid first to give 'tack', then the concrete, and finally a thin coating of a rigid polyester resin contg. wax.
