Abstract

Dilatometer for measuring changes in vol. of a sample as its temp is changed comprises, a single oven in which both heating and cooling of the sample takes place and which is provided with means of measuring temp and dimensional changes of the sample. IR radiation concn. on to a single, linear axis by elliptical reflector(s) is used as the heat source for a sample located along the axis. Heating and cooling can be sequenced rapidly as little heat is wasted in heating the oven but practically all confined to the sample.
