Abstract

Insulation of tubular reactor components especially pipework by means of a ceramic ring set within a double walled mounting sleeve. The ring and sleeve are placed inside the reactor pipe or duct and the sleeve pressurised through stub connections with a compatible fluid of air, CO2 or He. The circumferential pressure exerted by the sleeve on the ceramic ring and inner walls of the reactor duct effectively fixed the assembly. For long tubes a composite assembly of rings and mounting sleeves with 'O' ring seals between ring interfaces is effected. The ring and sleeve may be single piece or segmental type construction.
