Abstract

Appts. for protecting exit regions of rotary kiln against high temp., comprises an air cooling device in which air is drawn through an outer tube surrounding the kiln, to the lip of the kiln, passing around gudgeon pins holding the walls of the lip together and impinging onto the inner rim of the lip, then passing into the return channel, inside the flow channel and returning to the pumping unit. Appts. provides effective cooling of the lip and the gudgeon pins so that the life of the steel reaches that of the refractory lining.
