Abstract

Inks for pre-printing electrostatic (electrophotographic) recording sheets in a colour different to that of the final developer comprises a pigment and an electrically conductive homo- or co-polymer of quaternary vinyl benzyl ammonium cpd. (I) CH2=CHC6H4CH2 +NRR1R2 Y-(at least 65 wt.% (I) e.g. copolymer of (I) with up to 35 wt.% acrylamide or copolymer of (I) with 0.01-5 wt.% divinyl benzene). R, R1 and R2 are each HOCH2CH2-, CH3CH(OH)CH2-, HOCH2CH(OH)CH2-, alkyl, aryl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, or together may form a pyridyl ring; such that total no. of C atoms in R, R1 and R2 is at most 12; Y is an anion.
