Abstract
Catalyst for hydrogenation of aromatic hydrocarbons based on a composite heterogenous support (specific surface 200-700m2/g, pore volume 0.8 - 2.0 ml/g-0.3-1 ml/g being pores of diameter above 500 degrees A) comprising a silica - alumina cogel dispersed in a large pore alumina matrix gel, and in which the cogel is cation - exchanged with a platinum group metal. Platinum group metal is highly dispersed in the catalyst, owing to ease of diffusion in carrier, so quantity for a given conversion may be reduced.
