Abstract

An epitaxial layer is produced on a crystalline substrate by applying a cover plate so that the pressurized liquid phase is given a uniform height. the distance between substrate and upper fusion surface is made smaller than the diffusion lengths of all components of the melt. At right angles to the substrate surface, a temp. gradient is maintained which increases with increasing distance from the substrate surface.
