Abstract

Appts. for forming a paper strip and combining it with further paper strips at extremely high prodn. rates, comprises a number of papermaking units in series, in each of which the liquid paper pulp is dewatered in three stages namely (1) the dewatering of the pulp to form a fabric-like fibre mat on a horizontal part of an innermost belt of commercially available cloth, (2) the dewatering of the fibrous mat on a forming cylinder and its compression to a paper strip between the inner belt and supercrimped outer belt, (3) the dewatering of the resultant paper strip by means of a fixed water guide element so that a completely formed paper strip is produced which is combined with the paper strip(s) from a proceeding papermaking unit(s).
