Abstract

The pulp is fed between a pair of inlet rollers to form a pulp layer held between co-operating endless cord layers, each of which passes around an associated inlet roller. The layers move in straight or sinuous path vertically downwards, and then are deviated, through approx 90 degrees around a roller or curved guide so that water is centrifugally removed from the pulp, and so that the cord layers compact the pulp layer. Improved quality paper is produced at higher speeds.
