Abstract

A mixture of mineral fibres and dry adhesive is accelerated in a high speed air flow to a spraying nozzle from which it is directed onto a substrate at a speed in excess of 1220 m/min, water being injected into the mixture upstream of the nozzle to activate the adhesive and flock the fibres. A uniform, high density mat for heat or sound insulation or fire-proofing is formed.
