Abstract

Vinyl chloride resin compsn. is prepd. by mixing (A) 100 pts. wt. PVC, chlorinated PVC or a copolymer contng. >=80 wt.% vinyl chloride, with (B) 0.1-100 pts. wt. graft copolymer prepd. by emulsion polymerising 50-99 pts. wt. methyl methacrylate (I), adding to the resulting latex 50-1 pts. wt. of a monomer mixt. (II) consisting of a major proportion of an ester of (meth)acrylic, acid, with the exception of methyl methacrylate, (b) a minor proportion of methyl methacrylate (a), and a proportion below 20% wt. of the total of (a), (b) and (c) of another monomer copolymerisable with monomers (a) and (b), and graft polymerising the resulting mixt. The compsn. can be more easily and rapidly processed e.g. by moulding or extrusion, than components A alone, and is less subject to degradation at the processing temps.
