Abstract

A core for reeling shrinkable textile filaments has the form of a hollow cylinder and is of cellular compressible material. The use of the core prevents the mass of filaments becoming impermeable due to contraction and swelling. The core is pref. of a compressible cellular material such as cellulose, polyester polyurethane, or PVC, having open cells. Alternatively materials with closed cells may be used if they also have perforations to allow penetration of fluids. The whole of the core may be of cellular material or the latter may be wrapped around a solid base. Dyeing and treatment may be achieved by circulating fluid through the bobbin walls in both directions.
