Abstract

The weft thread passes through an air channel which is formed from many flat blades with a hole in and an exit on their top, for the weft thread to pass through, when the air channel drops out of the way for the reed to beat up the fabric. At intervals, across the loom and in the blades, there are photoelectric cells and light sources. As the yarn passes through the exit of the blade, the photoelectric cell will detect whether the weft is present. If the weft if absent, the machine is automatically stopped.
