Abstract

A loom stop motion includes a sensor pressing against pref. several warp yarns, adjacent the edge of the warp to measure the tension in the warp yarns. The loom is only stopped when the tension of the warp yarns during a beating up operation is lower than a predetermined valve measured during previous consecutive beating up operations. The low tension indicates a broken or incorrectly picked weft yarn. The stop-motion operates at high speeds on high speed looms and prevents a defective fabric from being woven.
