Abstract

A continuous bleed fraction is taken from the main stream of a prodn. plant and is first super-cooled to form a crystal broth which is then brought into temp. equilibrium in a dwell zone where the temp. is measured and represents the freezing pt. of the liquid. The measured temp is compared with the desired temp. for a given grade of purity in a difference element whose output signal may be used as direct control parameter for the feed back loop in a rectifier column. Speed and accuracy compatible with use in a process control system as compared with discrete sampling methods.
