Abstract

Cartons are fed from a supply to a rotor which conveys them past a sterilising spray and drying air jets and the sterilised cartons are transferred to an endless chain arranged in a low pressure chamber which conveys them serially past a filling station where they are filled with e.g. milk, a covering station where tops pref. sterilised by UV radiation are applied to the cartons; and a sealing station where the carbons are hermetically sealed to the cartons. Subsequently the cartons are removed from the chain, and pref. the chain on its return path is washed, sprayed with sterilising fluid and dried with hot air. The process is hygienic and fully automated.
