Abstract

The reverse side of the skins is covered, by spraying or brushing, with a permanent covering which forms a more or less pliable and elastic film. The liq. mixt. for building up the reinforcing covering is applied to an auxiliary support from which the film, after formation, is withdrawn; it is then applied under press. and heat to the reverse side of the articles to be reinforced. A stronger reinforcing effect is thus obtd. and cloth or fabric layers can be applied by the same process. The liq. mixt. comprises film-forming synthetic resin polymers and copolymers together with waxes and materials for giving a matt finish and for improving the touch and handle.
