Abstract

Ti or Ti alloys are case-hardened by using amorphous boron which has been heated and then cooled in a rare gas. Pref. B contains an activating agent such as an alkali metal -, alkaline earth -, or ammonium halide and an inert substance, e.g. oxide. The boriding treatment is pref. carried out in an Ar atm.
