Abstract

A polymer is thermally stabilised by the in situ formation of a stabiliser in the polymer during its processing. The stabiliser is formed from >=2 mutually reactive components one being a metal compd., e.g. dialkyl tin oxide and the other, e.g. lauric acid or 21 other specified compds. The process obviates a separate prepn. of the stabiliser and its isolation.
