Abstract
One to two thirds of the pellet charge is fed to a first position along a movable grate furnace to reduce its water content. The rest of the charge is then fed in at a second charging position, and the whole passed to a secondary drying zone. The first charge is at a temp. above the dew pt. of the permeating gas, so that condensation of water on the pellets is obviated, lending to improved strength.
