Abstract

The catalyst comprises an oxide phase contg. Cu and >=2 other metals from divalent Mg. Co, and Cd, and trivalent Al, Cr, Mn, Fe and Co. The catalyst is supported on a porous inert substrate and has is not >0.1 equiv./equiv. metal of a complexing agent, which will thermally decompose at >200 degrees C. Spec. the oxide phase has >=60% spinel-type crystal structure. High activity is attained at 150-550 degrees C which only slightly decreases with time (e.g. >100 hrs).
