Novel title cpds. of formula:- (where R = H or OH) and their acid addition salts are prepared by hydrogenolysis or solvolysis of the corresponding cpd. where the hydroxy and/or amino gps. are protected by removable gps. or by hydrogenation of the corresponding protected N1-(hydroxy-benzylidene)-N2-(hydroxy phenylalanine)-hydrazide. The protected intermediates and 3,4-dihydroxy-phenylalanine-hydrazide (opt. protected) are also novel. The cpds. are used to treat Parkinsonism.
