Abstract

A process of radiation chemically grafting an acrylic monomer onto polymeric materials e.g. polyolefines, polyamides, polyethylene terephthalate, PVC or wood is effected by immersing the materials (or articles) into a solution of triethylmethacyloxystannane (I) and subjecting the materials to ionising radiation so that the modified materials contain >=0.5% w.r.t. starting weight of the material of (I). The claimed treatment imparts fungal resistance on fungal attack without impairing the props. of the materials.
