Abstract

The unit has a concrete tank comprising a number of superimposed elements of a size to permit ready transportation by a lorry. The sewage enters the unit near the top and sludge descends to the bottom and lighter matter passes a horizontal agitator in the top of the unit. The sludge is drawn up to the agitator and then follows a downward helicoidal path. Air is mixed with the water and sewage by the agitator. The treated water passes to an outflow pipe, after passing upwardly through a bell-shaped member having a grid, while the excess sludge may be drawn-off periodically.
