Abstract
Granular material, such as seeds to be sown on farms, is fed through a shielding enclosure surrounding an irradiation chamber and a number of gamma sources. A rotatable shaft along the chamber axis has lateral elements near its ends which cooperate with fixed projections to form shielding labyrinths at the chamber inlet and outlet. The size of the outlet can pref. be varied to control the rate of flow of the material being irradiated.
