Abstract
A sample of carbonaceous material, esp. an organic mixture, is injected into a plasma (of conveyed particles) in the presence of an agent which will bond with the carbon, the quantity being determined by measurement of the intensity of radiation at a frequency characteristic of at least one of the elements present using a multi channel spectrophotometer and a gas chromatograph. The method has increased resolution compared with existing methods and may be further refined to overcome the masking of one element by another.
