Abstract

1476249 Gas chromatography COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE DE RAFFINAGE 23 Dec 1974 [28 Dec 1973] 55450/74 Heading B1H Trace amounts of products in a solvent are analysed by gas chromatography by separating them in a first circuit from other substances present in a sample, transferring them into a trap in a second circuit, an analytical chromatographic column being downstream of the trap, then releasing them from the trap and analysing them in the column. In Examples analyses are made of hydrocarbons in oilrefinery waste water, and aromatics in pentane. The preliminary separation may also be chromatographic. The trap may be a tube packed with adsorbent which adsorbs when cold and releases when heated.
