Abstract
Oxidation catalyst has content (p) of 0.1 - 50% wt. of V2O5 and a content (a) of sulphate ions (as metal sulphates) equal to 0.01 to 0.2 p. which are stable to 600 degrees C. Catalysts are used pref. for prodn. of phthalic- or maleic-anhydride by oxidation of naphthalene or o-xylene or benzene or n-4C-olefins air in the gas phase.
