Abstract
The web (e.g. a carpet or furnishing fabric) passes over an aperture in the upper wall of a chamber, and heated gas is blown upwardly from nozzles in the chamber through the web. Pref. an outlet duct to the chamber includes a throttle valve to allow a high pressure to be built up in the chamber. Alternatively the web may pass over sieve rollers through which the heated gas is forced radially outwardly through the web. The pile surface of the web is not damaged.
