Abstract
An air tight metal-ceramic seal is obtained by coating a ceramic, i.e. aluminium or beryllium oxide with a metallising layer (sinter temp. 1100 degrees C) comprised of 85-95% W, Mo or Re, 10-15% at least one metal from Ni, Cu, Co, Fe and materials which produce glassy phase, and a second solderable layer i.e. Cu between the 1st. layer and the metal. The arrangement is heated in a reducing atmosphere damp H2 and N2 25:75 to metallise the ceramic and solder the metal part to this layer.
