Abstract

Sizing compound for textiles. 1 pt. acrylonitrile copolymerised in aqueous soln. in presence of an initiator, with 0.8-1,4 pt. of acrylic acid (neutralised to preferably 25-45% with Na or unsubstituted NH4), possibly together with up to 20% of other monomers (e.g. acrylics), the soln. being neutralised with preferably NH4OH to a pH of 6-7; giving clear, homogeneous stable solns. without any tendency to coagulate and without any corrosive effect on machinery, which are suitable for sizing textiles fibres. Up to 20% strong soln. are used, depending on the fibre to be treated. Other sizing agents, especially starch, can be added to the polymer soln.
