Abstract
Proteolytic enzyme, obtained by culturing Tritirachium album LIMBER aerobically (submerged) on a carbohydrate/org. N/inorg. N medium at 15-32 degrees C, at pH 5-8 is exocellular and has an element analysis of 41.4% C., 7.1% H, 13.3% N and 1.5% S., a m.wt. 20,000-30, 0, and I-R spectrum with absorption bands at 3300, 297 , 1645; 1537; 1514, 1452, 1405, 1238, and 1060 cm-1; a U. V. spectrum with a maximum at 36200 cm-1 (e1%1cm = 8.75); an isoelectric point at about pH 9.5; proteolytic activity at between pH 3.5 and 12.5 stability in aqs. soln buffered at pH 8-11 and contg. 1-5 x 10-3 Mol/l. Ca2+ at 25 degrees C., of at least 30 days the optimum temp for the proteolytic activity at pH 8 is 65-70 degrees C.
