Abstract

A composite article consists of a synthetic fibres jersey knit support covered with a continuous coating of polyurethane and finished with a flock of very fine, short synthetic fibres. The coating of polyurethane is pref. applied by transfer from e.g. a previously coated silicone impregnated paper. After applying the paper to the jersey it is dried and the paper backing then removed. The polyurethane layer is preferably coated to a substance of 30-150 g/m2 and the fibres used in the flock surface are pref. of 1-3 denier nylon of fibre length 0.2-1mm., the jersey is preferably of superpolyamide. The composite material is light and impervious.
