Abstract
The free flowing aqs explosive compsn. contains ammonium nitrate and has hydrophobic aluminium as fed. Sufficient wetting agent is included to produce wetting of the aluminium by the salt soln. Spec. 10% of a powerful, high-explosive (pref. T.N.T.) is included as the detonator. The water content is 14-16 wt.% and air bubbles are introduced as a suspension to give a density of 0.8-1.5 kg/l. The compsn. comprises basic materials themselves non-explosive, and shows improved safety factor on storage at ambient temp. The material has a consistency suitable for mining.
