Abstract

Press for the treatment of skins and leather, comprises two endless belts, placed one above the other; the superimposed sections move at the same speed and carry the skins to be pressed between them. To extract liquids from the skins the continuous press has belts made from felt or other water-permeable material. The belts pass through three pairs of press rolls, each pair being mounted in a separate chassis. The skins pass, with the felt belts, between the consecutive pairs of rolls and the pressure exerted by each pair can be relatively low whilst the speed of the belts can be very high. The press can also be used for calendering and special finishes. In this case the upper belt is a steel strip and heating means are arranged between the pairs of press rolls.
