Abstract

A mixer-transporter device comprising a primary horizontal cylindrical zone (A), fitted with a rotating shaft and impeller blades, driving the materials to the blender section (B) fitted with mixer blades, slideable on the square-section shaft, with a large upper vane giving predominantly forward motion giving lower vane generating slight backward motion giving an overall mixing effect. Materials may be added at different positions in zone (A) allowing different residence times to suit the characteristics of the substance. Auxiliary zones may be interposed in the system to improve the blending or transporting efficiency of the device. The mixer is used for mixing sand, resin and catalyst for foundry applications.
