Abstract
1307173 Mixing apparatus DR HERFELD KG 30 July 1971 36036/71 Heading B1C A mixer for plastics and chemicals comprises a container having a cylindrical portion 4a and a tapered portion 4b, a rotatable lowspeed stirrer 7 on a shaft passing through the container bottom, and one or more high speed stirrers on shafts 13 passing through the side wall, the principal purpose of which is to beat the mix by friction. In operation the container is filled so that the blades 14a, 14b, 14c dip into the mix and urge it round the container preferably in the same sense as the stirrer 7; the latter rotates at 50-500 and preferably 70 rev./min., and the shafts 13 preferably at 3,000 rev./min. The blades 14a, b, c may be of triangular cross-section and arranged to urge the material towards the container side wall. The motors 15 may be of pole-changing reversible type and may be separately regulated to enable the energy input to the material to be adjusted.
