Abstract

The agitation chamber includes a central paddle carrying agitator blades and rotating in one direction, and outer scraper blades contacting the wall, and moving in the opposite direction to the agitator blades and at a slower speed. Pref. the agitator and scraper blades are driven from concentric central drive shafts, and the scraper blades are mounted on Teflon (RTM) hinges to allow for eccentricities in mounting. The chamber which may be used for mixing high viscosity enzyme transformed starch or lime-aluminium sulphate mixtures provides good agitation.
