Abstract
Filament electrode for unprotected arc-welding is made from a compn. essentially of C 0.02-0.3%, Si 0.1-2%, Mn 0.1-15%, Ni 0.05-20%, Cr 15-30%, Ti 0.05-2%, Nb 0.03-3%, V 0.03-5%, balance Fe and impurities, to which is added a total of 0.05-0.8% one or more rare earth oxide(s). The material has convenient hot plasticity sufficient to permit hot forging prodn. on an industrial scale. The weld has similar mech. props. to the welded oxidation resistant steels and does not suffer from cracking or grain boundary corrosion.
