Abstract

Coating appts. esp. for photosensitive emulsions comprises a fixed guide for the web; an initial coating device comprising a wedge-shaped gap tapering in the direction of web travel and supplied with solution via slots in the housing of the device; and a strip-shaped partition arranged just behind the coating device and forming a gap with the web extending across the width thereof. The partition is arranged between a vacuum source and a region of atmospheric pressure to constitute a final doctoring device. The system avoids stripe formation on the final coating.
