Abstract
These compounds have the general formula: (inwhich R is H, a C1-6 alkyl, a C5-7 cycloalkyl opt. substd. with C1-4 alkyl an araliphatic gp. opt. substd. with alkyl, alkoxy gp. Cl, F or Br, or an aromatic gp. opt. substd. with a C1-4 alkyl or alkoxy gp). These cpds. are produced by treating a N-phenylacetylglycine ethyl ester with an alkali metal or its basic cpd. of 20-140 degrees C and treating the product with an acid to liberate the above compound. These cpds. can be used as pharmaceutical intermediates, and have antiphlogistic and analgotic properties.
