Abstract

Various types of wood can be bleached using aqs. hydrogen peroxide with formamide in neutral to alkaline conditions. Spec. the wt. ratio of formamide peroxide is 1-10:10-1 and the process is effected for 1-30 mins in a drying tunnel or for 12-24 hrs in the open air. Even, excellent bleaching is obtained without undesirable by-product formation of per cpds. injurious to personnel.
