Abstract

Prepn of 3-acyl 1,2,4-oxadiazoles useful in synthesis of medicaments in plant protection and raw materials for the prepn of other organic cpds M5-. Have the formula (I): (wherein R' is alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, aryl or heterocyclic gp. opt. substd. R2 is H, OH, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, aryl or heterocyclic gp. opt. substd.) They are obtained, without using aminoglyoximes nitroso-imidazoles or imido-esters as starting materials, by nitrosation of N-substd. alpha aminoketones of formula (II) R'-CO-CH2-NH-CO-R2 (II) (wherein R' is as defined; R2 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, aryl or heterocyclic gp. opt. substd. or alkoxy), cyclising the O-substd. amido oximes obtained with dissociation of water when R' and R2 are as defined or with dissociation of alcohol when R2 is alkoxy, and reacting the resulting amido-oximes with carboxylic acid chlorides or anhydrides. Thus, 5-phenyl-3-benzoyl-1,2,4-oxadiazole is obtained (in 72% yield) from alpha-benzoylaminoacetophenone.
