Abstract
Rod or toroidal axially magnetized permanent and soft iron magnetic components, i.e. base plate or pot, cover and core compose the system. Part plate or ferro-magnetic circuit is in a compact alloyed ferritic steel which can be machined. It has higher electrical resistivity but lower magnetic resistivity than soft iron. Its magnetic saturation is equal to or greater than that required for the air gap induction. The parts near the air gap are of such material i.e. the cover plate and an end plate on the soft iron core. Carbon, silicon, aluminium and chromium are included in the alloy.
